Garden InstallationWe are naturalists and usually work with hand tools and traditional methods. For this reason we are particular about the type of installations we choose to work on, preferring creative and smaller scale projects than the larger landscape companies. We do: • tree and shrub planting • turf removal • shrub removal • bed planting • container planting • transplanting • limited amount of leveling, terracing, patio laying, retaining wall and fire pit building. We charge hourly per gardener and do not upcharge the cost of materials. Garden DesignsWe are most interested in installing garden designs. If you already have a landscape designer we are happy to review their design and implement the plans as much as the availability of plants allows. If you are needing a design we have a limited number of these that we work on each winter as time permits. Fees are based on size, beginning at $600. Contact us for a consult prior to beginning your design and the consultation fee will serve as a deposit for your design plan.

We DON'T do:• Turf/Lawn maintenance. No mowing. • Large tree trimming or removal. No climbing. • Bagging yard waste. We haul it to MO Organic. • Mortared hardscaping. Over time this method looks worse and becomes difficult to repair. • Herbicides/Insecticides. Chemicals are dangerous to our health as well as the health of your garden. • Weed mats. These create problems and fail after the first year. • Fall leaf removal. We only provide leaf removal in the Spring to ensure beneficial ecology. • Heavy Equipment. We leave that to the larger companies. • Spring Garden Designs. We work on designs in the winter and prefer at least a 6-month lead time to plan a design and install. We can provide referrals to dedicated garden designers upon request.

What do I need to do following an installation?New plants need to be nursed for at least the first year. In summer heat, even a few days of drought can kill unestablished roots. We are available to spot water during our maintenance visits, but during dry weather conditions we recommend watering your new plants as much as every other day in the summer and twice/week during the spring and fall. Trees need about 20 gallons/week of slow watering to establish roots and shrubs about 10 gallons/week. Smaller plants are easy to water with sprinklers. For an install to successfully establish itself, please ensure that you have an irrigation plan. After the first year it is good to pay attention to your garden, especially during times of drought, and give anything that is not dormant some water to get through a dry season.

What if I shop for and purchase my own plants? We love that! We can arrange to pick up plants, soil, rock, small trees, and items that do not require equipment to lift. If you have a design planned and are a gardener yourself, we are happy to assist your vision.
